Privacy policy
CastPen is a small independent product. This page says exactly what we do with the little we collect — in plain language, because there isn’t much to hide behind.
The short version: the waitlist stores your email address and, if you arrived from a link we tagged, a one-word label for that link. We use it to send beta invites and one launch email. We don’t sell it, share it, or run trackers on this site. Ask and we delete it.
What we collect
Only what the waitlist needs:
- Your email address — because it is the only way to send you a beta invite.
- A signup source — a short label such as
fb, taken from the?src=part of the link you clicked, so we can tell which post brought people here. Blank if you arrived without one. - The date and time you joined — beta invites go out in signup order, so we need the order.
That is the whole record. We deliberately do not store your name, your IP address, your browser fingerprint, or anything else about your visit.
Why we collect it
To send you a TestFlight invite when your place in the queue comes up, and to email you once when CastPen reaches the App Store. That is the entire purpose. We will not use your address for unrelated marketing, and we will not add you to any other list.
Where it lives
In a Cloudflare D1 database owned by CastPen, and nowhere else. Cloudflare hosts this site and stores that database on our behalf; as the host, it handles the network traffic needed to serve pages and keep them online, which is standard for any website. We do not copy the waitlist into a mailing-list tool, a CRM, or a spreadsheet service.
Who we share it with
Nobody. We do not sell, rent, trade, or hand over the waitlist. The only exception would be a legal obligation we cannot refuse — if that ever happened, it would still only be an email address and a signup date.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. Fonts are served from our own domain rather than a font CDN, and the demo video streams from media.castpen.app, which is our own storage bucket — there are no third-party embeds on the page.
Two small values are saved in your browser’s local storage and never leave your device except as described above:
castpen-theme— whether you chose the light or dark version of the page.castpen-src— the same one-word link label described above, remembered so a later visit still credits the post that introduced you.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes both.
How long we keep it
Until the launch email has gone out and you no longer want to hear from us — or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. If CastPen never ships, the waitlist gets deleted rather than kept around.
Removing yourself
Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and ask to be removed. We delete the row — no questions, no retention window, and no confirmation loop to click through. The same address works if you want to know what we hold about you, or to correct it.
Children
CastPen is a tool for people who teach. The waitlist isn’t intended for children, and we don’t knowingly collect signups from them. If a child’s address ended up on the list, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect ever changes, this page changes with it and the effective date at the top moves. If the change is significant and you are already on the waitlist, we will tell you by email rather than quietly editing the page.
